Coaches

I am pleased to introduce you to our outstanding coaching staff at FutureSwim.

Emily Lash
Emily is a USA certified coach having coached for CPAC in previous seasons.  She was the first head coach of the expanding Smyrna swim program with the Mako Team (one of the competitive teams out of Smyrna) leading them from last to first place during her 8 year tenure.  She maintains a coaching position at night with the rookie program for Smyrna during the summer.  Emily has been coaching for FutureSwim since it began and has watched many of her swimmers swim on to greater heights.  Emily swam competitively for 8 years with Swim Atlanta and the Stingrays and and set records for her High School Team at Lovett. She placed in the top 10 in all of her individual events at the State meet for all four years of High School.   She chose to focus on school and did not continue swimming competitively in college however, she continued to coach and manage the University of Kentucky swim team her freshmen year. Emily continues her swimming education learning the latest and greatest changes that occur in swimming. Emily is Lifeguard and CPR certified.

Nolan Shields

Nolan is a Senior at The Galloway School. He has been swimming competitively for 10 years with the Dynamo Swim Club in Chamblee, GA. He has been coaching at Future Swim for 5 years.  Nolan was the youngest coach hired at FutureSwim because his knowledge of swimming and ability stood out while talking to swimmers. His ability to explain a point to a young swimmer is that of any senior level coach.  Nolan is also a summer league swim coach for the Brookwood Hills Bullfrogs, in Atlanta.

At Galloway, Nolan has led the team to state all 4 years. He has been a top 10 finisher every year with a second place in the 200 IM in 2018. Nolan is great with kids and is also a junior camp counselor at Camp High Rocks,
Brevard, NC.
He is Lifeguard and CPR certified.


Chris Lash (Owner,Coach)
Chris has been involved in swimming for the past 20 years with various organizations.  She is the coach for both Middle and High School teams for Whitefield Academy. She has served on the executive board as the league administrator for the Cobb Summer Swim League serving 6,000 Cobb County swimmers for 6 years.  Chris' love for swimming started at 6, but became her passion when her daughter started with the 80 member Smyrna Sharks Swim Team (currently 500 member summer league program with 4 teams).  She has served on the board for 18 year and as the President for the last 8 years. Chris has been instrumental in the huge growth of swimming in the Smyrna area.
